Try a new sport in Chigwell
If you are looking to move to Chigwell, Loughton or Woodford you will be pleased to know there are plenty of opportunities to play sport and keep fit. You might even find yourself introduced to a new sport. Coming up on Saturday 29th February starting at 10 am and running until 8 pm on Sunday, 1st March you can sign up for the LTA Padel Tournament at David Lloyd Chigwell.
What is Padel you may ask? It is a rapidly growing sport across Europe and is played on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court. The rules are the same as tennis, and it is played with similar balls, although serving is under-hand and the walls are used as part of the game.
The really great thing about Padel is that all ages can play as it’s not power dominant and caters to all levels. Even with limited racket skills players can quickly engage in fun rallies, utilising the court’s surroundings. Padel is always played in doubles, which makes it a very social activity and therefore ideal for the entire family.
All you need to play are comfortable and breathable sportswear. You will also need Padel bats and Padel balls which have slightly less pressure than the traditional tennis ball. This equipment is usually available to hire at any venue that is offering Padel. Padel scoring is the same as tennis and is easy to pick up. The ball must bounce on the ground before it hits any of the surrounding walls, but players can volley and smash the ball. The lines are only used for the serve and then the ball can land anywhere in the court.
So how about you can try a new sport in Chigwell or just come and have a look at how it works at the LTA PADEL TOUR at David Lloyd Chigwell, Roding Ln, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell IG7 6BQ starting Saturday 29th February 2020.
